Summary:
History
Wiki Link.

Takane Enomoto is a normal high school girl.

Well ... kind of. Actually, not really. You see, Takane is a sixteen year old girl with an illness that causes her to spontaneously fall asleep at any given moment. Her severe lack of energy throughout the day not only makes it difficult for her to keep on track in school, but also makes it so that she's very irritable and not very friendly. Thus, Takane is stuck in a special class with one other person, and that's how she spends most of her days.

And that, friends, is how Takane Enomoto's story begins: In this classroom. Takane wakes up from another spontaneous sleeping episode to the noise outside. It's time for the festival, and every class is hard at work with their specific activities that they'll provide for it. Not her class, though. Tateyama-sensei had told them that they didn't need to do anything for the festival, which was nice because she really didn't want to.

Enter Haruka Kokonose, her classmate. In his boxers.

Cue Takane freaking out and demanding that he put his clothes back on.

BUT more to the point, after Sensei comes in and catches them during this rather intimate (not really) moment, and everything is all cleared up and whatnot, he announces that the class has to figure out what to do for the festival.

Wait.

No.

That's not right. Hadn't he said that they wouldn't need to? Takane proceeds to call him out on this, and, well, long story short, they're doing something for the festival. Problem is, they only have a week and Tateyama-sensei has used the entire budget on something he's wanted. Thus, this leaves them in a little bit of a pickle. Haruka states that he wants to do a shooting gallery for the festival, and so Takane starts thinking of ways to go about making that happen given their lack of budget and poor planning. None of them are all that great at building things, but Sensei is good at programming and Haruka is good at drawing ...

And then, in a stroke of genius, it occurs to her. A shooting game would be an interesting idea, right?

So the plan was on, and over the next week the three of them worked tirelessly on the shooting game, with Takane being the challenger (being the most suited for it, of course; after all, she ranked 2nd nationally for a first person shooter online game, even with a large fan following. She was known as 'LightningDancer Ene' among the fans. Takane did not want this information getting out to the public, but, well, it kind of did). They managed to complete it in a week, and before they knew it, the festival was happening.

Takane's first challenger was an older guy who had also participated in the same national tournament for her first person shooter game. He didn't recognize her right off the bat, so when the game began he assumed he was just going up against a girl who wasn't near his level. He found out within the two minute limit on the game that he was very wrong. After the challenge ended with Takane emerging victorious, he recognized her as LightningDancer Ene, and ended up leaving that room very excited and in a good mood.

Shortly afterward, a younger classman, Kano, and his friend (the two of which who would become important to the story later on) entered the room and the girl, Kido, challenged Takane. Takane had already had a feeling something was weird, because she hadn't seen Kido in the room until Kano pointed her out. It started anyway, and a little into the match, Takane started noticing some strange things happening with the game; some of the monsters started disappearing and Kido was still somehow able to shoot them. Takane stepped away from that match victorious as well, but only by an 100 point lead. She thought the game was glitching, but Kano seemed to blame the weirdness in the game on Kido herself. Takane didn't really understand, but Kano and Kido left soon afterward and it was forgotten. Takane and Haruka had a break afterward, and when they returned, a whole line of people had showed up to take on Takane, having heard that LightningDancer Ene was the challenger. Despite not wanting her online identity to be known like this, Takane took on her role and beat person after person at the game.

The Festival was coming to a close, and Takane had made a promise that she wouldn't lose until the very last person. Finally, that person came, in the form of Shintaro Kisaragi. Originally Takane was going to take it easy on him and let him win, but Shintaro started to insult her, and she lost her temper. The two made a deal; if he lost, he would do whatever she said, and vice versa if Takane lost. Takane even went so far as to tell him that she would call him "master," if she lost. The game began, and in the end, Shintaro was the victor. He then called their "deal," off and left, but not without an apology for his behavior from his friend Ayano Tateyama, the daughter of her teacher, who would eventually become her first female friend. Finally, the festival was over.

Months passed, and things continued on as normal for the most part. Haruka got addicted to the game that Takane usually played, and the two of them would play together. Haruka's birthday was coming up as well as Christmas, and Takane had a gift for him. Sadly, Haruka's health weakened and he landed himself in the hospital around his birthday. Fortunately, it wasn't that bad of an attack, so he was out of the hospital within the next week or so, but not long afterward, he had another attack.

Summer came, and the two of them had to stay behind for summer classes due to their own respective illnesses getting in the way (and Takane just not being a very good student to begin with). She and Haruka sat together in class, working on their schoolwork. Haruka finished early, and began to play the game they played together to encourage Takane to finish her schoolwork quicker (though really it only distracted her). He started paying more attention to the game, and Takane started to get jealous about that, so she put on her headphones, listened to the radio, and tried to provoke him into talking to her.

Unfortunately, Haruka had another attack in that room, and Takane hadn't realized for at least twenty minutes that it was happening. When she realized it, she panicked and tried to call for help, but nobody responded. This left Takane a complete mess until Sensei arrived and brought Haruka and Takane both to the hospital, where they waited for word of Haruka's condition while she blamed and berated herself for him ending up in here to begin with. Soon word arrived that he was stable, and Takane, still guilt-tripping herself over all of it, offered to return to the school to retrieve Haruka's things.

While at the school, she ran into Ayano and talked with her about what was going on. When Takane started getting down on herself about how things went down with Haruka's attack, Ayano was able to see past what she was trying to hide and tell her exactly what she was doing, and why she was so convinced that Haruka would hate her if she talked to him when he was awake. Takane was able to realize a few things about herself, and her own feelings toward Haruka at that point. With a new perspective in mind, Takane started rushing back to the hospital, determined to tell Haruka how she really feels, but as she ran toward the door, she suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't move. The last thing she saw before her vision faded was the image of her teacher, who should have been at the hospital with Haruka.

Takane Enomoto died that day, on the floor of the school.

This isn't the end of Takane's story by any means, but Takane will be taken from directly before her death.

Personality
I, "Enomoto Takane", am currently in a terrible mood.

When analyzing Takane's personality, it's probably easier to separate into her 'outside personality' and 'inside personality.' As with a lot of characters out there, there is a side of Takane that everybody sees and a side of Takane that only some people see, and it's important to cover both.

First and foremost, anybody who knows Takane would probably be able to describe her as very anti-social. She doesn't really talk to a lot of people or go out of her way to make friends. It's not that Takane dislikes people. It's just that she's irritated by them. Even then, it's not even really people that are the problem, either. No, her problem is almost entirely on her end. As someone with an illness that makes it so that she is constantly exhausted, and even falling asleep at random times, Takane doesn't ever feel like she's gotten a good night's rest. This makes her incredibly irritable in general, and thus contributes to her general irritability when interacting with others.

Due to my condition, I'm always irritated and I have no friends. But beyond that, I just don't want to be looked at so strangely!

It's really easy to talk about Takane's illness and how that affects her personality, because there is a lot of her personality that is related to that. One of those things that isn't made any easier by her constant exhaustion is that her temper is very easily triggered. Takane will raise her voice and yell at someone if she feels embarrassed, if she's angry, overly irritated, if she's close to them and they do something she deems as 'dumb,' when she's worried ... there are a lot of occasions where Takane will raise her voice, and it happens fairly often around people she cares about and people she barely knows alike.

On the outside, Takane definitely does not seem like the most friendly or social sort of person. She's edgy and a bit bitter. As mentioned before, Takane doesn't really go out of her way to make friends, and that sentiment is also true on the reverse. Not a lot of people really ... go out of their way to make friends with Takane. Those who do (IE, one Haruka Kokonose) are met with Takane's barely social and unfriendly outward appearance.

One someone gets to know her, though, there is that inner Takane that they start to see more of.

Egotistical, Ill-tempered, Secretive, Never Focused on anything ... wait, huh? That's me ...

Takane undergoes a bit of character development in her arc of the series, in which she realizes a lot of her own flaws. When faced with the frail mortality of her best friend, and the fact that she neglected to do anything to help him when he needed her, Takane started to realize that she's a rather selfish girl, and also began to realize that she has all of the above adjectives as part of her personality. Seeing as she was in the midst of blaming herself for the poor condition Haruka was in when she thought all of this, it's entirely possible that she was simply being hard on herself, but there is no denying that there is some truth to her self-deprecation. She also comes to the realization with some help from her only other close friend, Ayano, that she isn't someone who is entirely honest with herself and her own feelings.

I've become so used to hiding my true feelings, even I'm not sure what they are anymore.

Overall, Takane is a brilliantly flawed girl. She's not the most sociable person, she's not the most enthusiastic person, but she is a good person nonetheless. Takane is an incredibly lonely girl who has a hard time with a lot of things, and is still growing as a person and finding out more things about herself.

Powers: Takane has the ability to tsun, and tsun hard. She can only use her massive tsundere ability up to three times per day before she needs a tonic-- Okay, no. Takane doesn't have anything special in the way of powers, as she's just a stupid sick teenage girl. The only real talent she claims to have is her super awesome skills in Dead Bullet, the video game she's totes obsessed with. That's not the only thing she's obsessed with thoouuuuugh~!

Entry: If approved alongside Haruka, she and Haruka both will need help getting off of the Skyway and into the Bastion.

Other: We don't really know a lot of details on the illness afflicting Takane. All we know is that it seems to be a form of narcolepsy, where she needs way more sleep than normal and will pass out at the drop of a hat at times.

It's also been said that her collapse (and death) that happens just after the point I'm taking her from is due to being unknowingly injected with something that caused a really nasty reaction within her. Whatever is injected within her will still be present upon her arrival into the Bastion, so she's going to need some serious medical help. (We've already been talking about a possible rescue from the Skyway with another player in the game, in the case that both Haruka and Takane are approved).

... on a lighter note, seriously just look at these two aren't they precious
